A beta version of the creativity task server has been released. The contained sources emulate the server side while launching your program as a client (or reading from standard input). Maps can only be specified as a polygon in the current version. Feel free to post your feedback in the forum to help improve this test bed for everyone.

Smallest Subnumber: Limits lowered

We have reduced the input size for the task Smallest Subnumber, to allow slower (and easier) solutions for the maximum score. This was necessary, because our easy and fast sample solution turned out to be wrong. The new input size limits are:

1 < k < 200
k < m < 10000

SOI 2009 launched - log in and get started!

soi09_logoball.jpg  The tasks of the first round of the Swiss Olympiad in Informatics 2009 are online. Young computer enthusiasts can show their programming skills until November 30th and exchange their ideas with others. If you are amongst the best participants, you can win prizes, a spot in our training camp in Davos or even a Ticket to the International Olympiad in Informatics 2009 held in Bulgaria. To participate, sign up for an account on this webpage and submit your solutions until the end of November.

All official participants of SOI 2009 must have been born on or after July 1st 1989, and may not be enlisted as a student at university.

4th Swiss Scientific Olympiads Day

At the fourth Swiss Scientific Olympiads Day, participants, friends and supporters of the scientific Olympiads will meet along with persons with an economical or political background, to share their view on special moments during the five Swiss Scientific Olympiads held in 2008.

The Event is open to the public! Everyone interested in scientific Olympiads is cordially invited to join us in Bern. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Two silver medals at the IOI 2008 in Cairo!

 ioi08_pyramid.jpg Four Swiss information science students hoping for Olympic Gold in Cairo, Egypt! The Swiss delegation to the Olympiad in Informatics, consisting of the best four participants of the Swiss Finals, departed on Saturday 16th of August from Geneva. In two contests they showed great skill solving algorithmic problems and managed to achieve the best result in the history of the SOI! Both

  • Johannes Josi (17) from Unterseen (BE) and
  • Vladimir Serbinenko (19) from Villarimboud (FR)

have proven to rank among the world elite of young programmers by scoring a silver medal!

Die Sieger der Schweizer Informatik-Olympiade stehen fest

soi08_finals.jpg Am Ende des 20-stündigen Finals wurden am Samstag, den 24. Mai 2008 in Zürich die 12 besten Teilnehmenden der Schweizer Informatik-Olympiade mit Medaillen ausgezeichnet. Gold und ein Ticket an die internationale Informatik-Olympiade in Ägypten ging an Johannes Josi (17) aus Unterseen (BE), Vladimir Serbinenko (19) aus Villarimboud (FR), Adrian Roos (17) aus Schüpfen (BE) und Sebastien Vasey (18) aus Grand-Saconnex (GE).
