At the Swiss Scientific Olympiads Day we want to think back to the highlights of the scientific olympic year and honor the excellent achievements by the participants with several awards. You can get further information from the invitiational letter and the flyer with the full schedule.

We would be pleased if you join us to this interesting review of the olympic year 2012! No registration is needed. Every current and former participant of SOI and everybody else is cordially invited.

SOI 2013 Kick Off

SOI 2013 starts now - Tasks online!

soi2013-teaser.jpg  The tasks of the first round of the Swiss Olympiad in Informatics 2013 are online. Young computer enthusiasts can show their programming skills until November 30th and exchange their ideas with others. If you are amongst the best participants, you can win prizes, a spot in our training camp in Davos or even a ticket to the International Olympiad in Informatics 2013 held in Australia. To participate, sign up for an account on this webpage and submit your solutions until the end of November. Make sure to check out the rules and general information about SOI: here. Have fun solving the tasks!

Who wants to be a billionaire

All participants have to fulfill the following rules:

  • You can participate if you have been born on 1. July 1993 or later and you are enrolled at a swiss school (high-school, vocational school, etc) located in Switzerland during the period September to December 2012.
  • To participate, you need to register at the web page of SOI and set your status to Participant
  • You must participate under your own name.
  • Solve the tasks on your own. We strongly encourage you to study from books and internet but do not copy any solutions directly from these sources.

Marco Keller wins a Bronze Medal at IOI 2012

 IOI12_Marco.jpg The Swiss Delegation just returned from their trip to Sirmione, Lake Garda, where they participated at the 24th International Olympiad in Informatics. Together with many memories Marco Keller brings his newly won Bronze Medal back to Kirchberg SG.

The participants Johannes Kapfhammer, Marco Keller, André Ryser and Florian Wernli travelled together with their leaders Josef Ziegler and Daniel Graf to the biggest computer science competition in the world. Over 80 countries participated with 4 high school students each. In two five-hour exams the young programmers competed in analysing and implementing algorithmic problems. Besides the contest the participants enjoyed excursions to Venice and Gardaland.

SOI Workshop 2012

We invite you to our Workshop of the first round which will take place on Saturday October 13, 2012 from 9:30 to 16:00 at the ETH Zurich. You can find more details here: SOI Workshop 2012 (pdf)

At the workshop you learn the basics to tackle the tasks of SOI with success. Therefore the workshop is perfect starting point for the first round.
